Slovenia has 5 finalists for the Award for Business Excellence, of the Republic of Slovenia (PRSPO) 2009 – speech given by Ms Tatjana Fink at the award ceremony

Ljubljana, 8 April 2010 – General Manager of Trimo and the Vice President of the Awards for Business Excellence of the Republic of Slovenia (PRSPO) committee, Tatjana Fink, presented the Awards for Business Excellence, in 2009, for the private sector, as a part of the PRSPO evaluation at yesterday's ceremony at the Brdo Congress Centre.
The speech given by Ms Tatjana Fink:

“Good afternoon,
I greet you when the day is turning into a celebratory evening of excellence and wish you a spring full of blooms, a warm summer, a rich autumn, a safe winter, and a bright future.

Dear Mr Prime Minister Borut Pahor,
Dear President of the National Council, Mr Blaž Kavčič
Dear Madam Minister and President of the Committee for the Award for Business Excellence, Irma Pavlinič Krebs,
Dear Minister, Mr Henrik Gjerkeš,
Dear arbiters, evaluators, honoured guests, members of the media
and especially Dear Recipients of this year's awards.

Today, our attention turns to the people and companies in the private sector and institutions in the public sector for which even the dire situation such as the global financial crisis is not a problem, but rather gives them energy to achieve new triumphs.

The essence of excellence is in confronting reality and continually seeking harmony at ever higher vibrations. This goes for business excellence as well as for excellence in sports and culture and the excellence of a country as a whole.

Our athletes have shown all of us that more can be achieved than previously thought possible. They proved that mind does rule over matter, and that a team is superior to ego. Slovene athletes have become a synonym for success, courage, professionalism, dedication, and patriotism.

The essence of success is a positive thought that matures into an idea.
From this idea, excellent leaders develop business models, strategies, whole business stories, from which internationally successful companies or public sector institutions grow.

In order to create large and successful stories, competent, bold and dedicated co-workers are required, who know well what their mission and their tasks are, and are committed to perform it in an excellent fashion.

The European model of business excellence is an excellent tool for leaders and managers in the public and private sector, helping to create robust companies that will weather good times and bad times.

In Trimo, we have been following this model for more than a decade.
We have received both the business excellence award in Slovenia and the highest leadership award in Europe.
This has improved our recognition, helping us open doors into many large European companies with which we exchange best business practices.
Furthermore, we have taken the leading role within the European foundation for business excellence in order to form a model of excellence in a multi-project environment.
It is the connections we make and the exchange of best practices that are the most valuable part of the model of business excellence.
Such an award is an excellent beginning for the sustainable development of private and public companies and institutions.

The awards presented today are a result of systematic and successful work performed by the management and all employees.

Therefore, you have my congratulations.

I hope you will continue on your path of excellence in order to upgrade your excellent results and that, with your results and values, you will be an excellent model to everyone in your immediate surroundings and the broader community.”

The finalists in the PRSPO for 2009 are: Elektro Gorenjska d.d. from Kranj, Hidria AET d.o.o. from Tolmin, Zdravilišče Radenci d.o.o. from Radenci, General hospital Novo Mesto, and Administrative unite Trebnje.

The PRSPO found no organisation that would achieve the highest standards required to receive the Award for Business Excellence of the Republic of Slovenia.
Therefore, the committee decided not to award the Award for Business Excellence of the Republic of Slovenia, for 2009.

The purpose of this award is to encourage Slovene companies, institutes and other legal entities, as well as government bodies in all areas, to introduce systems for modern, efficient, and holistic achievement of quality and business excellence.
