Trimo Architectural Awards encourage innovation

Ljubljana, 10 February 2009 – Trimo, one of the few global providers of complete solutions in the steel construction business, is, for the 4th year running, publicising for applications to the ‘Trimo Architectural Awards’ competition. The company, whose most important motto is 'Innovation', invites Slovenian and non-Slovenian architects and designers to enter the contest, by 10 April, with their original solutions for buildings in the last 3 years, using Trimo products. The selected specialist committee will award the prize fund of 45,000 Euros between the best candidates, to be chosen by 11 May 2009, and presented at a public event.

The purpose of the contest 'Trimo Architectural Awards' is to encourage innovation from architects and designers, when using Trimo products in all sorts of projects. Innovation in planning, use, and implementation, is one of the fundamental principles of Trimo operations, of its staff, and of its business partners. At the announcement of the contest, Miloš Ebner, MBA, President of the 'Trimo Architectural Awards' committee, who is also the R&D and Design Engineering Director for Trimo, said: »The basic idea of 'Trimo Architectural Awards' is very clear: to award the most innovative and unconventional solutions when applying our products. This is a means of encouraging innovative and different thinking, and influencing the development of the technical field.«

Architects and designers who wish to register their solutions for the contest 'Trimo Architectural Awards' have to meet the following criteria:
- solutions were implemented in an actual building in the last 3 years, and not later than 1 March 2009;
- the building is distinguished by Trimo products, either visually or in terms of quantity, demonstrating the advantages of the products in planning, economising, and applying modern architectural solutions;
- buildings can be located in Slovenia or abroad;
- registered candidates can be architects or designers with their permanent residence in Slovenia, or abroad.
In addition to completing the application form, available at, candidates are required to submit a presentation of their solution in Slovene and English, and submit at least 5 different photos of the solution. The application materials have to be sent by post to Trimo d.d., Prijateljeva cesta 12, 8210 Trebnje, Slovenia, labelled as ‘Trimo Architectural Awards 2009’, or by e-mail to, by 10 April 2009. The winners of the contest will be made known on 11 May 2009, when Trimo will also announce the date and venue of the public conferment of awards, and exhibition of the award-winning works.

The company Trimo has been granting awards for innovative architectural solutions every two years, since 2003.  In 2003, the contest was entered by 32 candidates from 13 countries; in 2005, 77 entries from 18 countries were registered; and in 2007, the number grew to 79 entries from 21 countries.
