Share your knowledge – Enter competition”, 8th Trimo Research Awards 2009

Trebnje, 28 January – We are now organising competition entries for the 8th Trimo Research Awards. Under the slogan “SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE – ENTER COMPETITION”, Trimo will award the best submissions of dissertations and theses received from Undergraduates, Masters, Specialists, and PhDs, successfully evaluated by the appropriate faculty committees or vocational colleges, between 1 January and 31 December, 2008. We accept applications until 16 February 2009. The primary purpose of Trimo Research Awards is to encourage the transfer of information, knowledge, and ideas, between Trimo and those promising young researchers that work in areas connected to, and which are of interest to, Trimo. With this annual competition we aspire to develop cooperation with numerous universities and link together academic institutions with the professional public.

In the words of Miloš Ebner, MBA, Chairman of the Committee for research awards:
“The primary purpose of Trimo Research Awards is clear – to open new possibilities for cooperation between Trimo and the academic community, enable students and mentors to use real life data in their papers, and solve real problems. Being awarded with Trimo Research Award is undoubtedly a true recognition of quality, but especially the recognition of applicability and practical use of individual research. ”

Trimo Research Awards thereby encourage innovation and creativity and are international awards with a good reputation. The competition is not only open to Slovenian students but also students from Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, Montenegro, Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, and Great Britain.

130 awards have been granted since 2001, almost a quarter of the award-winners have continued their cooperation with Trimo, in different ways, after they received the award; this work most frequently involves development projects.

Scientific work from the following disciplines can be included in the competition: architecture, construction / civil engineering and machanical engineering. The application must include a completed application form - published on Trimo’s homepage - and an original, bound thesis; a written recommendation from the mentor; and a short abstract of the thesis written in Slovene and English (max. 2000 characters), attached in hard copy, plus an electronic version, and sent to.

The final deadline is 16 February 2009.

Detailed instructions for application are available at, on the page 'Awards'.

From the applications received and papers previously evaluated by Professors from appropriate faculties or vocational colleges, Trimo’s committee will examine and award the best pieces of work. The applications have to follow the latest achievements in science, with new approaches and solutions that Trimo can use in practice. The award-winners will be informed by the end of April 2009, when the location of the award ceremony will also be announced.
