Frequently asked questions

We have prepared answers to the most frequently asked questions.

What are Trimoterm fire-proof panels?
Trimoterm panels are fire-proof building panels that enable fast, quality and architecturally diverse construction in almost all weather conditions. The pre-fabricated elements ensure an unchangeable quality and a wide range of functional and attractive solutions.

Panels are composed of two corrugated, double-sided, galvanised and painted steel metal with an insulating non-flammable lamellate mineral wool core; all three layers are glued into a compact 'sandwich' element. They can be used in different construction systems and are an excellent solution in the context of their attractive appearance, fire-resistance, sound insulation and thermal insulation; they also excel in visible flexibility and extremely fast construction.

What types of panels do you produce?
Basically, we divide Trimoterm panels into façade (FTV) and roof (SNV) panels. The substantial difference between them lies in the profile of the external sheet metal.

The sheet metal in façade panels is slightly corrugated on both sides which enable us to establish a more attractive effect. In Trimo we produce two types of Trimoterm façade panels:
Trimoterm Standard (modular width 1000 mm or 1200 mm)Trimoterm Invisio, panel with hidden fixtures (modular width 1000 mm)

Roof panels have deeply corrugated (height 37 mm) sheet metal on one side which enables a large load-bearing capacity. The form of the joint and additional tightening ensures that even roofs with inclinations of 3° are water-proof - though Trimo recommends an inclination exceeding 6°.
FTV as well as SNV panels are suitable for façade systems.

What does fire-resistance panels mean; and what levels of resistance do they reach?

Fire resistance is a characteristic of the construction elements that helps protect against the fire outside the sector which it protects. This means that the temperature increase on the cold side of the panel does not at any point exceed the specification required during the whole period of declared fire resistance. In practice this type of fire blockade enables safe evacuation; that is movement of people in the direct proximity of the fire and prevents the inflammation of materials located behind the fire-resistant wall.

The non-flammable core made from lamellate mineral wool enables high fire-resistance for Trimoterm panels, which depends on the thickness of the insulation core. The tested and certified period of fire resistance for Trimoterm panels achieves 30 minutes for 60 mm thickness, and up to 180 minutes for panels 150 mm thick.

What are the static characteristics of Trimoterm panels?
The calculation of admissible distances between supports, according to the basic characteristics of panels, the construction system used and external burdens are made in accordance with guidelines of the German Institute for construction technique in Berlin (DiBt) - that is with ECCS recommendations. A specialised software package, Sand Staat3, produced by Ingenieuerbuero Berner und Gruber GmbH, from Darmstadt was used for the calculations.

Previously calculated tables for admissible distances for one-, two- and three- phase statics construction method (link to catalogue) for all panel types used in closed buildings are available – the load capacity caused by wind effects, according to the DIN 1055, is also considered. Additionally, diagrams of admissible loads in individual supporting distances that can be requested at tech.info@trimo.si are available.

Warning:
A special calculation that you can request at tech.info@trimo.si is needed for all examples when the construction, load and fixation do not comply with conditions mentioned in the table commentary - that is, diagrams for admissible distances.
