Trimo gives 60 awards to the best within the scope of their research awards

Ljubljana, 3 June 2010 – For the ninth time in a row, Trimo bestowed the traditional Trimo research awards to the best diploma papers, expert and master's dissertation and doctoral theses. Trimo's research awards went out to 61 winners from 26 university faculties and eight countries (Austria, Montenegro, Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia and Switzerland). Within the scope of this year's contest, awards were given to 27 diploma papers, 15 master's dissertations and 18 doctoral theses from six countries; Slovenia (46 research projects), Serbia (9 research projects), Croatia (2 research projects) and one research project each for Montenegro, Italy and Hungary. The recipients come from 26 university faculties and nine countries (Austria, Montenegro, Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia and Switzerland).

The awarded projects cover various areas, such as architecture (12), economy (14), engineering (8), construction (5) and geodesy, electrical engineering, industrial design, human resources, law, organisation, and innovation.

The candidates had until 1 March 2010 to submit their works, while the committee took into consideration submitted works that were evaluated as successful by the respective committee in the time from 1 January 2009 to 31 December 2009.

The Trimo research committee handed over the submitted works for evaluation to experts in various fields, and together with them evaluated and awarded the best. The recipients will receive monetary awards, and a summary of their work will be published in the proceedings of Trimo research awards.

The works examined were those that use the most recent scientific advances, new approaches and solutions that can be used by Trimo in practice and the results of which will contribute to the company's further success.

At the awards ceremony, Trimo’s General Manager, Tatjana Fink, said:  “The awarded works will shine even more brightly when they are confirmed in practice and so give their practical contribution to the development of human society.” She also thanked everyone whose findings contribute to the development of the company, opening new perspectives for Trimo and new insights into sustainable development that accounts for interests of all parties. “I find that our annual get-togethers at award ceremonies are very important, as in addition to awarding the best researchers, direct communications often lead to new research opportunities for researchers, universities and Trimo."

Miloš Ebner, the President of the research work committee and the director of strategic innovation in Trimo, greeted the recipients with these words: “Today more than ever we need your vision, your knowledge and your persistence. Together, we contribute that which the society direly needs – confidence and the determination to act. Those are the acts that form the now.”
